It's NOT the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The Girl in Apartment K has always had to deal with bi-polar Indiana weather.  One day, 45 and sunny, the next day 16 and 5 inches of snow.  It's something everyone in the midwest deals with.  And it sucks.  This winter has proven to be a tough one for The Girl in Apartment K.  During the first real snow of the season, everything went to shit for her.  Fast.
It was a regular Saturday.  The girl in Apartment K woke up early and went tanning.  There was a bit of snow falling, but nothing too serious.  Upon exiting the tanning salon, there was snow accumulating on the ground.  No big deal.  The Girl in Apartment K got onto the highway as it was the fastest way to get to work.  All seemed fine.  Everyone was keeping good speed.  It was coming down pretty good, but she could still see fairly well.  There was some holiday song coming out of the speakers.  No problems...  Until..DUN DUN DUN!
The car in front of her hit the brakes.  Reacting, The Girl in Apartment K also hit the brakes.  The collected snot on the concrete would not allow for traction.  She was not stopping.  Instead of hitting the car in front, she swerved to the left, smashing into a 4-foot cement median.  Her Bravada hit the guard wall at the front bumper.  The impact then swirled the SUV around and hit the back bumper (something she found out after.)
The next part is the craziest part of the whole ordeal.  From the left lane of I69, she then slid across three lanes of oncoming traffic to land safely on the right shoulder.  Relatively unharmed, at that.  The Girl in Apartment K could literally see the cars coming toward her as she was perpendicular to the traffic.  At that point she thought she was going to die.  The lyrics to "Jesus Take the Wheel" actually entered her brain for a split second.
The first person she called was work, to let them know she would be late.  She then called her mom to ask for help.  The Girl in Apartment K really is blessed to have such a caring and supportive family.  Her mom calmed her down.  While on the phone with her mom, a nice guy and his wife stopped to make sure she was ok.  He pointed out the back end damage.  (The Girl in Apartment K does not remember this second impact and was afraid that she had hit another car.  But, no one stopped.)  She thanked them and he went on his way.
Being only a mile from work, The Girl in Apartment K, got back on the road and VERY slowly drove the rest of the way to work.  While there, she tweeted about the ordeal and bought her staff donuts.  She was nicely surprised by a call from her very special friend to make sure she was alright.
This accident is just one more reason The Girl in Apartment K can NOT wait to move to a more favorable climate.  It also has kept her from listening to Christmas music while driving.
